Perdiz are sometimes compared to the bobwhite quail found in North America. The Perdiz are grassland birds that feed on seeds and grains and can be found in short grass pastures. An advantage of Perdiz hunting in Argentina and Uruguay is the Perdiz perference for the short grass pastures. This makes the hunting a thorn and cactus free event. The farm land of both Argentina and Uruguay is a scenic sight and so most Upland hunters that participate in the Perdiz hunting really get to see and enjoy the land of Argentina and Uruguay.

The Perdiz or tinamou are often found in singles or pairs and will walk and run and then fly. The dogs will go on point and the Perdiz commonly fly quickly, making it a challenging Upland hunt. The coloring of the Perdiz is such that they blend into their environment. The female Perdiz tends to have a brighter color.

Perdiz will flush and fly quickly, but in a range that makes the Upland hunt a successful one. The Perdiz are delicious when cooked and provide white meat fare.
